Livermore City Council Unanimously Agrees to Deal with Ava Community Energy for Power Purchase Agreement
The Independent
The City Council voted unanimously on Monday night to adopt a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Ava Community Energy. The deal would install rooftop solar and battery storage at the Civic Center Meeting Hall and Maintenance Service Center.
Ava will finance, install, own, operate and maintain the systems. The city would pay Ava on a per kilowatt-hour basis for solar power generated and a per kilowatt payment for storage capacity.
Livermore Mayor John Marchand stated, “Ultimately, over the 25-year contract, we’re saving money.” He added, “It’s been a bumpy ride, but we got here, and that’s the important thing. It’s going to better serve the community.”
