Clean Power Alliance Promoting Grant Program for Local Non-Profit Organizations

Calpine Energy Solutions’ new Community Benefits Program provides opportunities for regional organizations that advance sustainable energy and support local communities.

Los Angeles, CA —August 10, 2021 – Clean Power Alliance (CPA) is pleased to announce the launch of Calpine Energy Solutions’ new Community Benefits Program. This innovative grant program provides significant funding for non-profit organizations in CPA’s Los Angeles and Ventura County service areas aimed at expanding CPA/energy-related engagement, reinforcing commitments to disadvantaged communities, advancing energy equity and diversity programs, and fostering local green initiatives.

The Community Benefits Program officially opens to local non-profit applicants today and will run through Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 will be awarded in late October.

Fostering local partnerships is critical to the mission of Calpine Energy Solutions and CPA, especially in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the widespread health and economic consequences we continue to face in the Los Angeles/Ventura County region. As restrictions are lifted and the economy begins to recover, additional grant support for local initiatives such as workforce development, community solar programs, and climate literacy can help boost the impact of local non-profits seeking to address these and other critical issues.

Calpine Energy Solutions’ Senior Vice President of the CCA Business Unit, Drake Welch, believes the Community Benefits Program provides a great opportunity to develop long-term environmentally focused partnerships. Calpine Energy Solutions is committed to its CCA partners and the communities they serve. We are delighted to sponsor a program that highlights the important work of community organizations while also amplifying the positive impact of the Clean Power Alliance.”

“We could not be more excited about helping to get the word out about this grant program to support our communities and create partnerships that align with CPA’s clean energy mission,” said Ted Bardacke, Clean Power Alliance Executive Director. “We appreciate Calpine’s commitment in providing this tremendous opportunity to work directly with community leaders, families, and mission-based groups in the communities we serve, and we encourage all qualified non-profit organizations to submit an application today.”
