Clean Energy Alliance Reduces Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Carlsbad, Del Mar, Escondido, San Marcos, and Solana Beach

The Clean Energy Alliance (CEA) in 2022 successfully achieved its primary goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the cities it serves. As demonstrated by CEA’s 2022 Power Content Label (PCL) compared to San Diego Gas & Electric’s (SDG&E) 2022 PCL, CEA’s Emissions Intensity was more than 70% lower than SDG&E’s.

“This remarkable accomplishment underscores CEA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and reinforces its position as a leader in the clean energy sector,” said CEO Barbara Boswell. “We’re proud to demonstrate our dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in creating a more sustainable world for generations to come.”

CEA measures “Emissions Intensity”—a measure of the carbon content in its power supply— using the California Energy Commission’s prescribed methodology for preparing the Power Content Label, which you can learn more about on the California Energy Commission’s website.

CEA is dedicated to further reducing greenhouse gas emissions as it continues to expand its services into the cities of Oceanside and Vista in April 2024. Each of our member cities has a climate action plan, and CEA is key in helping each one achieve the emission reduction goals listed in these plans. CEA is committed to making clean, renewable energy accessible to all, and this latest milestone reflects its unwavering dedication to a more sustainable and eco-friendly energy future for the San Diego region.

“CEA’s success in reducing greenhouse gas emissions highlights our unwavering commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for all,” continued Boswell. “We are proud to lead the charge in providing environmentally responsible energy solutions and will continue to make our communities proud as we grow.”

As CEA continues to expand its footprint, it remains steadfast in its commitment to providing clean energy solutions that are both environmentally responsible and cost-competitive. By leveraging clean energy sources, innovative technologies, and cutting-edge programs, CEA will continue making significant strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions while delivering reliable and affordable energy services to its communities.
