The Clean Energy Alliance announced that it has signed four exclusive letters of intent with three geothermal developers, “marking a major milestone in its mission to deliver reliable, clean energy,” according to a news release.
“The proposed projects will utilize a mix of both traditional and innovative geothermal technologies to diversify CEA’s energy portfolio,” according to the news release. “CEA views clean, firm power as a critical component of its strategy to provide 100% renewable energy to customers by 2035. Renewable sources, like solar and wind that rely on the intermittency of the sun shining or the wind blowing, are complemented well by geothermal energy, which taps into the constant, natural heat stored deep in the earth.”
“In order to power California towards its vital yet ambitious 100% renewable energy future, the need for additional clean, firm renewable resources has never been greater,” Greg Wade, CEO of the Clean Energy Alliance, said in a statement. “The development of geothermal resources will be an essential part of delivering on both the state’s mandates and on our own goal of providing consistent and reliable renewable energy to our customers in the years to come.”
