Calif. governor’s wildfire strike force report outlines possible actions

Just ahead of California’s 2019 summer wildfire season, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s released his strike force’s report outlining steps to respond to the devastating blazes that have plagued the state, including recommendations for considering reform of the state’s inverse condemnation liability structure.

The California Community Choice Association applauded Newsom for “his quick action to assemble a strike force to begin addressing the state’s urgent needs.” The association, which represents local government agencies that combine the buying power of communities to purchase renewable energy supplies, noted that catastrophic wildfires are exacerbated by climate change, so “it is critical that efforts to achieve the state’s clean energy goals are not derailed.”
